Patrícia Salgueiro, athlete from the Taekwondo Section of the Association 20 Kms de Almeirim, became the European university champion in the under 46 kilogram category, this Friday, September 11, in Tirana, Albania. The athlete represented the Polytechnic University of Santarém at the European University Championship of Combat Sports, a competition that brought together around 1500 athletes representing more than 400 European universities.
Patrícia Salgueiro's presence at the European competition resulted from the victory achieved at the National University Championship, which guaranteed her access to the continental event. In May, the athlete had been distinguished as Female Athlete of the Year by the Polytechnic University of Santarém, in recognition of the sporting career carried out throughout the season.
The Association 20 Kms de Almeirim publicly celebrated the achievement, highlighting that the athlete represented the university and returned to Portugal with the gold medal.
