Mark Rutte, through a social media message, commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Dutch Prime Minister and current NATO Secretary-General stated that allies remain alongside the United States, as they did following the attacks 25 years ago.

In his message, Rutte stated that NATO "honors the memory of all those who lost their lives" during the terrorist attacks that occurred a quarter of a century ago.

The September 11, 2001 attacks claimed the lives of nearly three thousand people and led to the activation of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty for the first time in the alliance's history, marking a moment of unity among Western allies.
