Romanian refereeing has introduced a black card, aimed at warning and punishing individuals who are not on the pitch during football matches. This new system represents an extension of the disciplinary measures already existing in football, which were traditionally limited to the yellow card and the red card applied to players in action.
The black card emerges as an additional tool for referees to deal with improper behavior from people off the pitch, which may include technical staff members, officials or even spectators involved in incidents during matches.
This innovation reflects the ongoing concern of football federations in ensuring that discipline is maintained in all areas of the stadium, not just among the players in action. The measure aims to create a more controlled and safe environment around the games.
