Hans Gernot Schenk had worked for over a year in the Twin Towers when the September 11 attacks occurred. He had established his routine in the business complex located at the World Trade Center in New York.
On that fateful morning, Schenk arrived at the office a little later than usual. This seemingly simple delay ended up being crucial for his survival, as it was probably what saved him from being in the wrong place at the time of the attacks.
However, the survivor reveals that he carries a significant emotional burden. He admits that he sometimes feels guilty for having survived, a common feeling among those who escaped the tragedy while thousands lost their lives.
The September 11, 2001 attacks left deep marks on Schenk's life, forever transforming his perspective and creating a feeling of guilt that he still carries years after the event.
