Julie Hanway Molina, 56 years old, was arrested Thursday morning (10/9) under the accusation of having diverted US$ 411 thousand (about R$ 2.1 million) from a high school football team in which her son plays. The detained woman worked as treasurer of a nonprofit organization in Orange County, California, described in the complaint as a voluntary entity created to promote and improve a school football program.
Anthony Molina, the suspect's husband, told ABC station at the time of the arrest that he had no idea what his wife did as treasurer. However, the FBI reported that he was a constant presence on trips funded by the alleged diversion of public resources.
Records from the family's Facebook page showed a glamorous glimpse of their privileged life, including pre-game parties at the traditional University of Notre Dame, stunning beaches, tropical-looking waters, poolside drinks under palm trees and frequent trips.
