The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York collapsed on Tuesday morning after two commercial aircraft were deliberately flown into the buildings. The terrorist attack caused a cloud of dust and debris that covered Manhattan, turning the city's streets into war scenes.
Rescue teams were buried while trying to help the injured in the rubble of the buildings. The collapse also affected neighboring buildings in the area, further expanding the destruction in the Financial District area.
The attack caused hundreds of dead and wounded, including firefighters, police officers and civilians who were in the vicinity of the buildings. Bodies and wreckage spread across several blocks around the complex.
