Prime Minister António Costa received on Monday the President of the European Council, António Costa, at São Bento. The meeting addressed the European Union budget and was described by the Portuguese Prime Minister as a "very good meeting".
António Costa, who left the position of Prime Minister in November 2024, currently holds the position of President of the European Council. This was the second time he was at São Bento since he left the Portuguese executive.
During the visit, the President of the European Council expressed his happiness to be in Portugal, stating: "How good it is to be in Portugal!"
António Costa's visit to Lisbon is part of the context of his new European position, where he has been holding bilateral meetings with various European Union leaders to discuss fundamental issues for the Community bloc, including the Multiannual Financial Framework.
