The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) starts this Friday the "Escola Segura" (Safe School) campaign for the 2026/2027 school year. This initiative aims to reinforce security in educational establishments and prevent risky situations among the school community.
The campaign involves a set of prevention and awareness actions that will be carried out by GNR military personnel throughout the school year. The main objective is to guarantee a safe environment for students, teachers, and administrative staff.
According to data revealed in the context of the campaign, in the last school year the GNR registered 2631 crimes in school settings. This number highlights the need to maintain continuous control and surveillance in Portuguese schools.
The "Escola Segura" (Safe School) campaign is part of a broader set of public security measures implemented by the GNR, which also includes other initiatives such as "Via Verde" (Green Lane) and "Intensive Enforcement," all aimed at protecting citizens.
