Investigation opened into possible hate crime as Daniela, a trans young woman, was buried in Aspe with her "deadname" and a pre-transition image

The Civil and Instruction Section of the Instance Court of Novelda opened an investigation for a possible hate crime related to the case of a trans young woman called Daniela, who committed suicide at age 21 in 2022. The family decided to bury her in a family pantheon in the Aspe cemetery, identifying her with her deadname or necroponym, that is, the name she had before starting the transition process, and with an image from before that process. Last January, the High Court of Justice ordered the Generalitat to investigate the case.
