The European Union intends to clarify Ukraine's exact budgetary needs before making decisions on financial support to the country. This position was expressed by European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis in an interview with Euronews.
Dombrovskis said there are "outstanding issues" regarding Ukraine's budget that need to be clarified. The commissioner emphasized the need to obtain more precise information before moving forward with any financial commitment.
Kyiv asked Western allies to cover a budget deficit of 23 billion euros. This request comes in the context of a broader effort by Ukraine to secure the necessary funding to maintain state functioning and essential services.
The EU's position, expressed by Dombrovskis, indicates that Brussels wants greater transparency and detail regarding Ukrainian financial needs before committing to any specific amount of budget support.
