The justice of Hong Kong sentenced today three activists who organized vigils in memory of Tiananmen to sentences ranging from five to more than seven years in prison.
The three activists were convicted for involvement in organizing the traditional June 4 vigils, which commemorated the massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989.
This trial takes place in a context of growing repression in Hong Kong, where authorities have been progressively banning activities linked to the memory of Tiananmen, including the dissolution of the group that organized the vigils.
