Opinions don't lose elections!

This opinion article analyzes a curious political theory in São Vicente, according to which an opinion should only have value after being validated by electoral success. The author criticizes the tendency to attack the private life of whoever presents arguments — income, employment, car, marital status — instead of refuting the ideas themselves. He argues that a healthy democracy evaluates arguments by their content, coherence, and evidence, and not by the social position of whoever presents them, warning that transforming someone's economic or family precarity into proof of intellectual incompetence is simply an escape from genuine debate.

CMF: gossip about the contest

Madeira Opina publishes a complaint about a public competition launched by the Funchal City Council (CMF) for the hiring of a Senior Technician in Social Work, alleging that the procedure was tailor-made for a specific person, and that everyone in the municipal corridors knows who will be chosen. The article questions the need for registration with the Order of Social Workers and suggests that the person in question performs functions that are not strictly those of a Social Worker, fueling theories of favoritism and legal violations. The author recommends that the admission requirements be changed, that the pre-selected person be excluded, and appeals to those interested to contest similar procedures.

The columnist wonders why the minister does not present concrete evidence — such as documents, invoices, and transfer receipts — to support his statements about payments for the works on the monte (estate), suggesting that justice should intervene more decisively.
