Seven GNR and PSP structures want meeting with MAI

Observador11 September 2026 at 00:36

Seven representative structures of the Republican National Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP) issued an ultimatum to the Minister of Internal Administration, giving him one week to schedule a meeting. The structures want to discuss the equalization of the risk allowance for their members with that practiced by the Judicial Police.

If the minister does not respond to the request within the established deadline, the seven structures threaten to proceed with protest actions. This situation arises in the context of a tug-of-war between security professionals and the Ministry of Internal Administration regarding salary conditions and remuneration supplements.

Security forces have been claiming equal treatment regarding the risk allowance, arguing that the amount attributed to the Judicial Police is significantly higher than what they receive. The issue has been a point of discord in negotiations between unions and the government.

The seven structures represent a significant set of professional associations and unions from both security forces, which demonstrates a concerted position between the GNR and the PSP on this matter. The Ministry of Internal Administration has not yet publicly commented on the ultimatum issued by the structures.
