President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defended on Thursday the decisions made by the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, the day before. Lula stated that Fachin is "on the right track" and that "it was necessary to put the house in order."
The president criticized the conflicts between the Supreme Court ministers, saying it is not acceptable that they keep "fighting" and making statements against each other, while society watches passively.
When asked if the STF's institutional crisis affects the government, Lula denied it and stated that the Executive "has nothing to do" with the situation. He highlighted that his concern as president is with the importance of the Supreme Court, which cannot be trivialized, and that court members must behave above the level of Brazilian society.
On Wednesday afternoon, Fachin took a series of decisions, including scheduling for Tuesday, the 15th, a trial to address a report.
