Ten degraded buildings in Coimbra have started renovation works

Observador11 September 2026 at 00:02

The Municipality of Coimbra revealed that ten degraded buildings in the city center have already started renovation works. The mayor of the municipality, Ana Abrunhosa, stated that these are just some of the buildings covered by the municipal effort.

The municipality has been notifying owners of degraded buildings, having issued "hundreds" of notifications over the past period. These actions are part of a broader strategy to combat the advanced state of degradation of several properties in the city.

Ana Abrunhosa acknowledges that the problem is extensive, highlighting that although ten buildings are already under construction, many others remain to be addressed. The municipality continues to monitor and pressure owners to proceed with the rehabilitation of their properties.
