Mário Frias calls Federal Police operation "smoke screen," denies irregularities and says amendment doesn't go through congressman's hands

Federal deputy Mário Frias (PL-SP) classified as a "smoke screen" the Federal Police operation that carried out on Thursday a search warrant at his residence. Frias denied having committed irregularities in the allocation of R$ 2 million in parliamentary amendments related to projects linked to the production of the film "Dark Horse." This was his first public statement after the action.

In a video posted on social media, the parliamentarian stated that his defense has been requesting access to the investigation for months and criticized the fact that he learned of the suspicions investigated by the PF through the press. He questioned how it would be possible to defend himself from accusations without access to the documents, reporting that he discovered the allegations through the newspapers on the same day his home was searched.

According to Mário Frias, the R$ 2 million in amendments were allocated to two projects: one sports-related and another for digital literacy, aimed at serving children, youth and adolescents.
