The Rock in Rio festival significantly boosted the economy of Rio de Janeiro. Data from Itaú Unibanco shows a 22.1% increase in commerce revenue during the week of the first weekend of shows, between September 4 and 7, compared to the second weekend of the festival in 2024, held between September 19 and 22.
The sectors that benefited the most were those linked to tourism. Car rental companies registered a 69.1% increase, clubs and sports events saw growth of 65.6%, and taxis rose by 54.4%.
Regarding spending by foreigners in Rio during the analyzed period, bakeries and confectioneries had the highest increase, at 75.9%, followed by car rental companies, at 74.3%.
