A three-year-old boy is believed to have been a victim of sexual abuse by his own uncle, a 12-year-old teenager, in the municipality of Felgueiras. The case was reported after the child was taken by family members to a hospital unit on Wednesday night.
The health unit alerted the GNR given the suspicions of sexual abuse. The soldiers went to the location and took charge of the incident, subsequently reporting the case to the Judicial Police.
The child was then taken to Hospital Padre Américo, in Penafiel, where he received medical care.
The Judicial Police is responsible for the investigation, which must now clarify the circumstances under which the alleged abuses are believed to have occurred.
