Hebraica Rio offers 100 free spots for judo project

oglobo10 September 2026 at 20:59

The Solidarity Judo Project, an initiative of Hebraica Rio, has opened one hundred new free spots for children and adolescents from 3 to 14 years old who are enrolled in municipal public schools. Created 12 years ago, the program has already served more than three thousand young people in Rio de Janeiro.

The classes are divided into two groups: one for children from 3 to 8 years old and another for adolescents from 9 to 14 years old. The project is coordinated by Phillippe Moura, who highlights the pedagogical structure of the program.

According to Moura, the teaching method encompasses two main parts. The first is the didactic part, focused on transmitting judo values, showing that the martial art is not just a sport, but an activity aimed at the integral growth of the individual. The second part is the training, which, initially, is what most motivates students to join.

In addition to the classes, the guardians of the children go through an interview before the enrollment in the project is finalized.
