Morocco guaranteed that the 2030 World Cup final would be at the Casablanca mega-stadium but FIFA denied it

Record10 September 2026 at 15:46

The president of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, stated that the 2030 World Cup final would be held at Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, a mega-stadium with a capacity of 115,000 spectators. The statement was interpreted as a guarantee that Morocco would host the decisive match of the tournament.

However, FIFA officially denied Lekjaa's claim, stating that no decision had been made regarding the location of the 2030 World Cup final. The governing body clarified that the process of defining the venues is still underway.

The 2030 World Cup will be held jointly by Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, in an unprecedented tripartite organization in the history of the competition. This partnership was officially announced by the three federations and FIFA.

Hassan II Stadium, located in Casablanca, is considered one of the largest stadiums in the world, having been built specifically to host major international sporting events. Its capacity places it among the most impressive sporting venues on the planet.

Olympiacos is trying to sign the 33-year-old Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, who ended his contract with Galatasaray in Turkey. The Greek club intends to secure the player's signing at no transfer cost, taking advantage of the Argentine being a free agent after his contract with the Turkish club ended.
