Chega insists on inquiry committee into Luís Neves amid clash with Aguiar-Branco

Chega submitted this Thursday in Parliament a new request for the establishment of an inquiry committee into Luís Neves's management at the Judicial Police, after the motion of censure it presented against the Government was rejected in plenary. The party intends for the constitution of the inquiry committee to take place on Tuesday, September 15, the date when the Assembly of the Republic resumes its normal period of operation.

The new mandatory request by Chega was submitted after the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, admitted he could reject the proposal if the party did not amend the grounds and intended subject matter. Aguiar-Branco claimed to have found "insufficiencies in the delimitation of the subject matter and grounds" that did not allow, in its current formulation, for the mandatory constitution of the committee, demanding that the party change the subject matter from "evaluate" to "identify the specific acts, decisions, procedures or matters to be investigated".

The new request aims to respond to this ruling, with Chega maintaining the original subject matter without any alteration, considering that the doubts raised by Aguiar-Branco are "devoid of any legal and constitutional basis". Nevertheless, the party introduced some changes, proposing the analysis of contracts awarded by the PJ to Construbarcelos and the verification of the existence or otherwise of conflicts of interest in the contracting of the same company for the carrying out of private works.

Oncology in Portalegre: Movement in defense of Rui Dinis moves forward with exhibition and silent march

The movement "Valorizar Quem Cuida" (Value Those Who Care), which brings together oncology patients, family members and friends in Portalegre, announced new protest actions against the reorganization of the Oncology Service at Hospital Doutor José Maria Grande, if no responses are received by September 17. The group is preparing to send an exhibition to municipalities, deputies, the Ministry of Health and other entities, and threatens to hold a silent march from Praça da República to the hospital. The main concern relates to the possible reduction of activity of oncologist Rui Dinis, whom patients consider essential for the inland region, where they already face difficulties accessing healthcare and are forced to travel to other parts of the country for treatment.
