A woman was arrested in flagrante delicto on Wednesday suspected of murdering her own mother, 77 years old, with hammer blows, in the city of Itaboraí, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio. The victim was identified as Delza Maria Alves Costa.
According to investigations by the Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Police Departments (DHNSGI), the suspect attacked her mother with a hammer because she believed the elderly woman was having a relationship with her partner, with whom she has been for nine years. The Civil Police reported that the perpetrator of the crime was located in São Gonçalo, also in the Metropolitan Region.
investigators found that the suspect went to her mother's residence in Itaboraí carrying a hammer. Upon finding the victim together with her partner, the woman began destroying objects inside the home and questioned her mother about the supposed sexual relationship.
The suspect was found in São Gonçalo and confessed to the crime. She was arrested in flagrante delicto and will face charges for the crime of feminicide.
