The Hospitaller Sisters are promoting the XIX Gym-Recreational event, a sporting and recreational event taking place this Thursday, September 10th, at Santo Amaro de Oeiras Beach, in Lisbon. The initiative has the participation of around 350 people and its main objective is to promote the inclusion of people with intellectual and motor disabilities, raising awareness in the community about the importance of fellowship, sport and solidarity.
Over 19 editions, the Beach Gym-Recreational event has established itself as a moment of encounter, fellowship and inclusion, bringing together different institutions around a common goal: promoting social participation of people with intellectual and developmental difficulties through sport and recreational activities. During the morning, participants will have the opportunity to take part in various adapted activities, in an environment marked by joy, cooperation, sharing and contact with the community.
The Gym-Recreational event aims to demonstrate that sport can be a powerful tool for inclusion, providing participation opportunities, promoting autonomy and reinforcing the sense of belonging. The initiative is organized by Hospitaller Sisters Idanha – Sintra, Casa de Saúde da Idanha, in partnership with Casa de Saúde do Telhal, within the Inter-Centros group, which brings together more than 40 institutions committed to promoting inclusive recreational-sporting activities.
