The IC1 was closed to traffic in both directions near Ourique following a road collision between a heavy vehicle and a light vehicle. The accident occurred on the road that connects to Ourique and is frequently used as an alternative to the EN2.

Authorities confirmed there is one serious injury to report as a result of this collision. Emergency services were dispatched to the accident site to provide assistance to the victims.

The road remains closed in both directions while rescue operations and removal of the vehicles involved are underway. Drivers are being diverted to alternative routes during the road closure period.
