Jacob Coxon, a British software engineer at Anthropic, recently resigned from the company. Coxon revealed that over the past three years he also worked for OpenAI, having been involved in the development of the GPT-4o and GPT-4.5 models, although he did not hold leadership positions.
The researcher claims that both Anthropic and OpenAI "are not acting responsibly" regarding artificial intelligence development. Coxon publicly criticized the companies, stating they "play with lives" and that those responsible for the exponential development of AI are not duly considering the associated risks.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, the engineer warned about the dangers of accelerated technological advancement without proper precautions. His statements come at a time when the debate over AI safety and regulation is intensifying worldwide.
Coxon's case joins other examples of technology sector professionals who have been publicly warning about the potential risks of artificial intelligence, raising questions about the appropriateness of development practices at major companies in the sector.
