The European Court of Auditors carried out an audit of the REpowerEU plan, which aims to reduce European dependence on Russian gas and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. The audit concludes that the plan is "failing" its stated objectives. The report identifies gaps in the implementation and effectiveness of the measures adopted by Member States. The court leaves several recommendations to correct the path of the plan, which was created in response to the energy crisis triggered by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The audit shows that, despite the initial promises, the concrete results fall short of expectations.
