South Korean magnate Kwon Hyuk-bin, from the video game sector, was sentenced by a South Korean court to hand over to his ex-wife, Lee Hwa-jin, assets valued at 2.55 trillion won, equivalent to approximately R$ 9.7 billion. The ruling establishes the largest divorce settlement in the country's history.
According to the sentence, Lee will receive a 35% stake in the company Smilegate, valued at approximately 2.5 trillion won, in addition to 65 billion won in cash. Before the ruling, Kwon fully controlled the company.
Kwon founded Smilegate, listed as the third largest video game company in South Korea, and is known as one of the wealthiest men in the country. Bloomberg estimates his net worth at approximately US$ 3 billion.
