Legendary American designer Ralph Lauren opened New York Fashion Week on Wednesday with his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, kicking off the renowned event that, for the first time, has banned the use of furs on the runways. Ralph Lauren, 86, whose preppy aesthetic has influenced American style for decades, presented looks in his signature colors: navy and white, complemented by touches of gold, beige, and dusty pink.
The brand stated that the collection aims to put a special touch on "traditional notions of elegance" and reinterpret historical silhouettes. The pieces presented included trousers paired with leather jackets, straw hats and flats, as well as dresses that could be worn by the biggest Hollywood stars on the red carpet.
This year marks a significant shift for the event, which for the first time in its history has banned animal furs on the runways.
