The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a red alert, indicating "great danger," for storms on this Thursday (10) in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and the extreme northwest of Rio Grande do Sul. The areas with the highest probability of rain are mainly in southern Paraná and western Santa Catarina.
The instability is associated with the action of upper-level troughs, which are low-pressure systems that help organize rain areas. Starting in the afternoon, a cyclogenesis process also begins over southern Brazil, which should result in the formation of a cyclone and, subsequently, a cold front.
Among the areas under red alert are the municipalities of Umuarama, Guaíra, and Toledo in Paraná. The meteorological system will be more organized on Friday.
