Jacob Coxon, a software engineer who worked at Anthropic, resigned from the company and used social media platform X to warn about the dangers of artificial intelligence development. Media outlets identify him as one of the developers of GPT-4o and GPT-4.5, although he did not hold leadership positions at the company.
In his posts, Coxon revealed that people involved in the accelerated development of AI believe this technology could represent an existential threat to humanity. According to the researcher, there is a conviction that artificial intelligence could effectively cause the death of all human beings by the end of this decade.
The engineer emphasized that there is no other human activity that represents a comparable level of threat to AI development. This warning comes at a time when the technological race between companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic is intensifying, raising questions about the risks associated with creating increasingly powerful artificial intelligence systems.
