Liesa (Independent League of Samba Schools) defined the calendar for the technical rehearsals for Rio Carnival 2027, with the announcement made on Wednesday afternoon, the 9th. Among the new features, the minischool parades and the washing of Sapucaí will take place on the last Sunday before carnival, replacing Saturday, which was the traditional date.
Sapucaí will receive the schools between the weekends of January 24 to 31. The events, always free, will include the light and sound tests at the Sambódromo, as already occurred in 2026, in addition to the official parades of part of the minischool samba schools at the opening of each date.
The anticipation of the calendar was thought out precisely so that carnival lovers can already organize themselves. In 2026, the rehearsals became an official vacation program and were a great success, gathering around 360,000 people on the Avenue.
The calendar begins on January 23, Saturday, with the parades of Golfinhos do Rio de Janeiro, Ainda Existem Crianças na Vila Kennedy and Corações Unidos do CIEP starting at 5:30 PM, followed by other schools starting at 8 PM.
