Porsche sold its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group for a total value of one billion euros. This operation represents a significant change in the shareholder structure of the high-performance electric vehicle companies.
Bugatti Rimac is a joint venture that combines the iconic French supercar brand Bugatti with the Croatian technology company Rimac, specialized in high-performance electric vehicles. Rimac Group, in turn, is the parent company that holds a substantial part of Bugatti Rimac.
This sale occurs in a context of profound changes at Volkswagen Group, which includes Porsche as one of its brands. The German automotive conglomerate is currently involved in a significant restructuring process, which includes plans to reduce its workforce by more than 100,000 employees.
The one billion euros obtained from these disposals represents a strategic move for Porsche, allowing it to free up financial resources at a time of transformation in the automotive sector and of pressure on large European groups to adapt to the transition to electric mobility.
