The UN atomic watchdog's council reported Iran to the Security Council today, for the first time in 20 years, for failing to comply with nuclear obligations.
The decision was made by the governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Tehran.
This is the first such report in two decades, in a significant escalation of tensions between Iran and the international community regarding its nuclear program.
The report comes in a context of growing international concern about Iranian nuclear activities and the possible deviation from international obligations assumed by Tehran.
