Rua Morais Sarmento, in the center of Castro Verde, has been transformed with the installation of dozens of suspended umbrellas along most of the street, giving a new "colorful" look to the urban space.
The project, called "Umbrella Sky", was the winner of the 2025 Participatory Budget of the Castro Verde Council and represented an investment of approximately 30 thousand euros.
The initiative was proposed by Cidália Alves Guerreiro and is inspired by a similar installation existing in Águeda. The goal is to "color life, bring joy to urban spaces and promote a warmer and more attractive environment" in the municipality.
In addition to embellishing the town, the project aims to create a space conducive to exhibitions and community events, also contributing to the promotion of local commerce.
