The law firm Durham Agrellos announced the reinforcement of its team with the arrival of Rita Lobo Xavier as Of Counsel, betting on the growth of its Family Governance and Succession Planning practice. Rita Lobo Xavier is described as one of the leading Portuguese specialists in Family Law and Succession Law, being a Full Professor at the Law Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University. She coordinates the pioneering and only curricular unit on Matrimonial Property Regimes and Succession Planning in Portugal and was responsible for the design and creation of the first Portuguese postgraduate program in Family Governance, which she continues to coordinate.
Rita Lobo Xavier graduated in Law from the University of Coimbra in 1984, obtained her Master's and Doctorate degrees from the same university, and received her Habilitation (Agregada) from the Portuguese Catholic University in 2016. She is also Director of the Journal of Law and Social Studies, a member of the International Association of Family Law Jurists and the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, as well as a national expert for Portugal in the "Women, Business and the Law" project of the World Bank.
