Google announced a 13 billion euro investment in Finland, representing the company's largest individual investment in Europe. This investment includes the construction of data centers in the Nordic country to support artificial intelligence expansion.
The plan includes 629 megawatts of new wind capacity, contributing to the renewable energy supply for the data centers. Additionally, Google signed a 22-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to extend the operation of the Loviisa nuclear power plant, Finland's largest nuclear facility.
This investment is part of Google's strategy to ensure the energy supply needed for the growth of its artificial intelligence infrastructure in Europe. The combination of wind and nuclear energy allows the company to diversify its clean energy sources.
