Children from the municipality of Avis will now be able to receive olive oil free of charge until they turn 18. This is an initiative by SCMA (Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Avis) that aims to promote healthier eating among young people.
The project will start with around 40 children belonging to SCMA's nursery school. The olive oil will be delivered regularly to the students' parents or guardians.
The program may be expanded to primary school students from Erveda's school, thus extending the reach of this food support measure to children in the municipality.
The launch of the initiative is scheduled for this Friday, when the first batches of olive oil will be distributed to the program's beneficiaries.
