Parliament reconsiders on Wednesday decree on flag hoisting vetoed by Seguro

Correio da Manhã9 September 2026 at 17:32

Parliament will reconsider on Wednesday a decree on flag hoisting that had been vetoed by Seguro. This reconsideration comes after the veto was applied to the initially approved bill.

The decree was initially approved in final overall vote by the parliamentary right-wing benches. The left-wing benches voted against the proposal, expressing their opposition to the content of the bill.

Seguro, as the authority that applied the veto, determined that the document should return to Parliament for new consideration. This reconsideration process is a procedure that is anticipated when the President of the Republic or another entity with veto power returns a legislative bill to the legislative body.

The debate and vote scheduled for Wednesday will allow the different parliamentary benches to repeat their position on the decree regarding flag hoisting, after Seguro's intervention suspended its entry into force.

The commentator highlights what he considers to be selective hypocrisy of these artists in their condemnation of certain figures while participating in an event associated with Stalinist regimes responsible for millions of deaths.
