An investigation conducted by Gamers Nexus, in partnership with Level1Techs and independent researchers, revealed that LG's OLED smart televisions capture ambient audio even when in standby mode, i.e., with the screen off. This discovery raises new questions about the South Korean company's privacy practices.
The investigation found that the audio data collected by the televisions is subsequently sent to LG's advertising division. This suggests that the company may be using the device microphones to collect information about users, even when they are not actively interacting with the device.
