The European Commission made 114.7 million euros available to Spain to address the migratory situation in Ceuta. This funding comes as a response to the entry of thousands of migrants into Spanish territory during the month of July.
The financial support aims to help the Spanish authorities manage the migratory flow that caused a humanitarian and security crisis in the autonomous city, located in North Africa.
With this decision, Brussels demonstrates its commitment to supporting Member States facing migratory pressure at the external borders of the European Union.
The available funds are to be used for reception measures, border control and management of the humanitarian situation of the migrants who arrived in Ceuta.
