The president of the Municipal Council of Vila Real, Alexandre Favaios, stated that the municipality already provides schools with human resources far exceeding what is provided by the State, particularly in the area of inclusive education. Still, he considered greater investment from the Government necessary, considering it unthinkable that a child with greater support needs does not have a human resource almost exclusively dedicated to them.
In his opinion, a successful school cannot be evaluated only by academic results. Alexandre Favaios argued that education should also be based on the importance of emotions and the well-being of everyone, being fundamental that the student feels they are not left behind, that the teacher is valued and that the family is supported.
The mayor also warned about the need to accompany the growing diversity of school communities with adequate resources, highlighting that today there is a multicultural and very diverse school, which necessarily requires more resources to meet the needs of all students.
