The European Commission presented on Wednesday a proposal to clarify the rules on AL (Free Trade Agreement), showing itself to be "ambitious" in that intention. However, ALEP, an importers or exporters association, considered that the proposal does not fulfill this objective.
According to ALEP, the proposal presented by the European Commission "is not very clarifying". The association argues that the rules continue to not be sufficiently clear for the economic operators affected.
The debate arises in a context of need for greater transparency and legal certainty in the trade exchanges covered by the agreement in question. The European Commission had promised to clarify the rules, but ALEP understands that the proposal fails in this fundamental aspect.
