It's a daily struggle for 300 tickets: hundreds of people queue at AIMA's doors since dawn

TVI Notícias9 September 2026 at 14:06

Hundreds of people spent the night in front of AIMA, the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, in order to get a service ticket. It is a daily struggle for 300 available tickets, a number that clearly does not meet the existing demand.

In the early hours of the morning, the line was already going around the block, revealing the extent of the problem. Many wait for hours or even all night, with no guarantee of being seen.

TVI journalist Emanuel Monteiro heard the complaints of those who despair for a response from the State. People report difficulties and anguish faced with the scarcity of available service.

The situation illustrates the overload faced by AIMA, with citizens risking sleeping on the street to secure a place in line and the possibility of getting a response to their needs.

Alberto Gonçalves analyses the apparent contradiction of comedians and artists who refused to participate in a festival with Jerry Seinfeld, criticizing him for alleged controversial positions, but who simultaneously attended editions of the "Avante!" festival, organized by the Portuguese Communist Party, arguing that this event celebrates real genocides since 1931. The commentator highlights what he considers to be selective hypocrisy of these artists in their condemnation of certain figures while participating in an event associated with Stalinist regimes responsible for millions of deaths.
