The Brazilian AI startup Pax developed a platform that allows field police officers to search for vehicle characteristics using natural language. Instead of relying solely on license plate reading or facial recognition, the system works from descriptions provided by victims, such as car color, stickers, dents, and visible objects, cross-referencing this information with the existing camera network in the state.
The technology cross-references data found in cameras with police reports and open warrants. When the system identifies a matching vehicle, the officer triggers an alert and notifies the nearest team to carry out the intervention. The goal is to function as a digital assistant to help in solving public security cases.
According to the article, over the past year, more than 5,000 cases were resolved with the help of Pax's platform, across all programs the company operates. The company presents this technology as a new generation of public security tools, differentiating itself from previous generations by not relying exclusively on license plate reading or facial recognition.
