The President of the Portuguese Medical Association, Carlos Cortes, today defended the need for a differentiated plan to attract health professionals to underserved areas of the country.
The Alentejo Coast region was highlighted as a critical example of the situation, where approximately 30% of the population lacks adequate support in primary health care.
Carlos Cortes warned of the need for measures that encourage doctors to establish themselves in these areas, where the shortage of professionals is particularly severe.
The intervention of the President comes in a context of growing concerns about inequalities in access to health care among different regions of the Portuguese territory.
