The Liberal Initiative (IL) in Madeira criticized, through a statement, the way the Regional Government has been conducting the process of defining the regional minimum wage for 2027. The party considers that the regional executive acted incorrectly by announcing a value without previously consulting social partners.
The announcement of the regional minimum wage of 1,050 euros was made by the secretary of the Economy and the president of the Regional Government of Madeira. The IL highlights that this decision was made without any consultation with social partners, which violates, according to the party, correct governance practices.
The liberal party also warns that this announcement comes before the national minimum wage for the next year has even been set. This anticipation raises questions about the coherence of the salary definition process in the region, since the national value is not yet known. The IL defends that the process should follow a logical order, starting with the national minimum wage.
