Spain's Ministry of the Interior, led by Fernando Grande-Marlaska, produced in 2024 a secret dossier with information on 280 journalists, radio and television commentators, politicians and former politicians.
The document classified these people by their ideology, and it was revealed that the dossier contained detailed data on media professionals and Spanish political figures.
The creation of this dossier provoked strong opposition and criticism of the Spanish government, which came under intense political pressure due to this revelation.
The Ministry of the Interior, under Fernando Grande-Marlaska, thus became the main target of criticism regarding this issue of surveillance and cataloguing of journalists and public figures.
