Minister Flavio Dino, of the Supreme Federal Court, decided to reinstate Andrei Rodrigues to the position of director-general of the Federal Police, overturning the decision of his colleague André Mendonça. In the same decision, Dino criticized Mendonça's actions in removing the PF leadership, classifying it as interference in the competencies of other ministers and of the Court's own Plenary.
The central point highlighted by Dino was the revelation that Mendonça had met with the former controller of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro, on the premises of a private company. The meeting was revealed by the "ICL" portal and, according to the decision, occurred through the intermediation of other agents who are parties to investigations currently underway in the Judiciary.
In his decision, Dino stated that the information about the meeting increased the gravity of the interference practiced by Mendonça, given that Vorcaro is being investigated in cases under Mendonça's own jurisdiction. The minister reinforced that the meeting with an investigated party under his responsibility, in a private company environment, raised questions about the impartiality of the decisions issued by him in the case.
The messages obtained by the portal point to the participation of lawyer Ciro Rocha as intermediary of the meeting. Dino considered that the facts demonstrate a violation of the principle of the natural judge and the independence of STF members, reinforcing the need to maintain the decision that restored Rodrigues to the command of the Federal Police.
