Justice Minister Flávio Dino, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined the return of Andrei Rodrigues to the director-general position of the Federal Police. The decision was made after Justice Minister André Mendonça had previously ordered Rodrigues' removal from the position. Dino's decision prevails because it is later.
Dino justified his decision arguing that it is necessary to avoid "irreparable damages" to cases that are under his rapporteurship. In his determination, the minister ordered the president of the Republic, as the authority responsible for appointing the PF's director-general, to ensure the immediate reinstatement of Andrei Augusto Passos Rodrigues to the position.
According to Dino, while the STF Plenary does not rule on Andrei's removal, urgent investigations with ongoing proceedings cannot be interrupted. The minister criticized the situation as an "administrative chaos" imposed on the PF by Mendonça's decision, which resulted in the dismissal of its board of directors.
