Bar Association President Carlos Cortes warned about the impact of the INEM strike on emergency response capacity in Portugal. At a moment of great concern, the official recalled the fundamental role that the National Medical Emergency Institute plays in pre-hospital care and in responding to urgent and emergency situations. The strike raises serious questions about the capacity of the medical emergency system to ensure the necessary care to the population during the strike period.
Carlos Cortes emphasized that this situation should concern all citizens, given the critical role of INEM in the survival chain and in medical emergency care throughout the country.
